Western Sydney Airport will transform the region with a new era of jobs and opportunities by delivering Sydney’s new international airport. The airport will provide much-needed capacity to meet the growing demand for air services in Sydney and will open for freight, as well as domestic and international passenger services, in 2026. As Australia’s first smart airport, Western Sydney Airport will take advantage of technology to provide airlines and passengers with more seamless experiences and customer services.

Western Sydney Airport is currently building a high performing Corporate Affairs team to build the profile of the airport and support the ongoing development of a customer focussed airport business. As a member of the Corporate Affairs team, the Community Partnerships Manager coordinates and delivers a broad range of internal and external community partnership and involvement activities to support the reputation and visibility of Western Sydney Airport.

Reporting to the General Manager, Stakeholder and Community Engagement, you will be involved contributes to the enhancement of the reputation of the organisation with community stakeholders by identifying opportunities to involve the broader community with the excitement surrounding the construction of this major infrastructure project.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities include:

1. Community Involvement Corporate Objective - optimising the benefit of Western Sydney Airport on employment and investment in Western Sydney by recognising and promoting that the Airport will be a major catalyst for growth and development in Western Sydney.

2. Contribute to WSA’s community engagement and involvement capacity – champion Western Sydney Airport across the community to ensure it has a highly visible and proactive community engagement presence in Western Sydney.

3. Visitor Centre – actively promote and grow the public use of the Visitor Centre (opening mid 2019).

4. Building and developing relationships

1. Work collaboratively to ensure the community partnership approach is consistent and WSA is capitalising on opportunities and mitigating risks.

2. Establish strong working relationships with community leaders across Western Sydney.

3. Build and maintain positive, cooperative and productive relationships with WSA internal stakeholders and involve other staff in community activities.

5. Evaluating and reporting –development and rollout of the Western Sydney Airport Community Grants program and develop evaluation tools to demonstrate a return on investment, including community attitudes and perceptions.

6. Brand – ensure all community partnership initiatives are appropriately branded and look for opportunities to build on the Western Sydney Airport Community Grants Program.

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience in community engagement and communications, or other relevant disciplines such as education are mandatory as is your demonstrated ability to develop and deliver community programs for contentious and sensitive projects.
